Various kinds of sleep disorders


Sleep is defined as an unconscious state in which a person can still be awakened by administration of sensory stimuli or by other stimuli (Guyton & Hall, 1997). According to Potter & Perry (2005), Sleep is a physiological process that is cyclical alternating with longer periods of waking. Sleep is a condition where assistance may not realize people can be awakened by appropriate stimulation or sensoriyang (Guyton in Alimul Aziz H) or can also be regarded as a state of relative unconsciousness, not just a state of calmness without activity, but rather a sequence of repetitive cycles, characterized by the presence of minimal activity, have varying awareness of the physiological changes and a decline in response to external stimuli.

Sleep is much needed by the human body, so that the performance and optimum performance of the body when the body is awake. During sleep, the body will form and regenerate cells, support brain function, and replenish the body's energy. For children and adolescents, sleep is needed to assist their growth process.

Insomnia

Insomnia is a condition when a person is having trouble sleeping or can not sleep long enough according to the time it takes the body even though he has the opportunity to do so. This causes the physical condition of insomniacs become fit enough to perform the activity the next day.



The stages of sleep stages of which are drowsiness, light sleep stage, the stage of deep sleep, and the dream stage. The dream phase is often referred to as the stage of rapid eye movement (REM) stage of sleep when rapid eye movement experience.



Symptoms of insomnia

It is difficult to determine the size of a normal sleep because sleep needs vary for each person. It is influenced by age, lifestyle, environment, and diet. The symptoms of insomnia are the most common of which are:

     Haard to sleep

     Wake up at night or early morning.
     Feeling tired, cranky, and could not perform the activity well in the afternoon.

Causes of insomnia

There are several things that can cause a person to have trouble sleeping, which in turn leads to insomnia in a long enough period of time. Starting from the result of lifestyle factors and room comfort room, to the psychological health factors, physical health, and medication side effects.



Snoring / snore
Most adults snore during sleep. Snoring sound comes from the air entering the soft tissue in the throat vibrate. Snoring can be a problem because of the sound it produces. In addition, snoring can be a major sign of a more serious sleep problems, namely sleep apnea.


Sleep Apnea


This sleep disorder occurs when the upper respiratory tract partially clogged, blocking the breathing process in a short time, and make someone awakened from sleep. Apnea means "without breath '. Sleep apnea can occur repeatedly during sleep, so that sufferers always feel very sleepy during the day. People who snore sleep more at risk of this sleep disorder. Research shows that sleep apnea symptoms are severe and untreated can be associated with serious diseases such as hypertension, stroke and heart disease.


Narcolepsy (Narcolepsy)

 
Narcolepsy is a chronic sleep disorder meruapakan, such as excessive drowsiness during the day. These symptoms can occur anywhere, even at work. This condition is often referred to as sleep attack, aka sleep attacks. Narcolepsy is thought to be a result of disturbances in the central nervous system (brain) which causes disruption of the body's normal sleep cycle.


Parasomnias


These were of a type of sleep disorder sleep disorders on a person's behavior, thereby disrupting the rhythm of sleep. Symptoms commonly are walking during sleep (sleepwalking), nightmares, delirium, and so forth. Parasomnia symptoms usually occur in NREM sleep phase, and is more common in children aged 3-5 years. A child who is having a nightmare can wake up screaming, but can not explain the fear. This condition is actually more frightening for parents than the child, because of the confusion caused by the child's sleep behavior.


Hypersomnia


If insomnia is a symptom of insomnia, hypersomnia is the opposite: most sleep. People with hypersomnia usually have a longer sleep time than others, and often sleep during the day. This condition can be caused by several things such as disorders of the nervous system or the body's metabolic system, but the exact cause is not known with certainty.
