what is CHD?

CHD or Congenital heart disease is a disease caused by narrowing of the small blood vessels that supply blood and oxygen to the heart, constriction of blood vessels caused by plaque buildup on artery walls. Risk factors include age, gender, genetic history and race. Other factors that affect the likelihood of CCHD include high cholesterol, smoking, substance abuse and weight problems.

If left unchecked, can lead to CHD heart attacks and even death.

Symptoms cause of CHD:

  • chest pain
  • panting breath
  •   Fatigue after physical activity
  • feel the weight
  • Heart feels like crushed

  Treatment of Coronary Heart Disease

  • Drugs

Patients can be asked to take drugs against cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes. The main cause of coronary heart disease can be cured with medication. Depend on the severity of CHD, a doctor can recommend a host of drugs, including beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, diuretics, calcium channel blockers, aspirin, nitrates, and statins. This will help decrease blood pressure and increase blood flow to the heart.

  • Catheter procedures

Depend on the severity of the condition, surgery with minimal invasion is also available. These procedures include angioplasty or intracoronary splinting.

Balloon angioplasty is a process in which a balloon is developed in the obstructed artery, often times resulting in the formation of calcium and fat in artery walls. Deflated balloon in a short time, thus providing a broader space for blood to flow. The doctor may also put a splint, soft wire mesh inside the artery to ensure that the artery open. This is usually the first choice for patients who suffer a heart attack.

  • Coronary Artery Surgery

Shortcuts transplant coronary artery (CABG) is a procedure that is used to bypass the blocked coronary artery. To increase blood flow to the heart muscle and relieve chest pain (angina), this surgical procedure is an "open heart" for patients with serious heart failure. In most cases, transplantation shortcut using a blend of internal thoracic artery and saphenous vein from the leg. When this procedure is done, the patient is connected to a heart-lung machine and the heart-lung discontinued
